Need a Bio for Your Employer?

So a great company just hired you, and your boss wants a bio for the company website. Don’t worry; your smile covers any apprehension you’re feeling! We will show you what needs to be included in your bio for your employer. 

Think of your bio for your employer as introducing yourself to everyone at your company. A company website is a great place to meet coworkers and grab information to use as a conversation starter the next time you see them.

Unless your employer says otherwise, your bio for your employer should be short; this means using dense words so you won’t leave out any vital information. You can write your bio in either first person or third person – as long as it’s well written, either narrative is effective. Our preference at WeWriteBios.com is third person, but we have also done first person. 

Start your bio with a quote or mantra you believe in that sums up who you are and gets the reader’s attention. You can inject this quote with your personality, but you don’t want to offend anyone, so no off-color jokes. But on that note, you can say, for example, “Accountant by Day, Stand-Up Comic by Night.”

The first paragraph is your introduction and should be a brief paragraph of your professional highlights. Include relevant achievements, skills, and responsibilities, and use a friendly, professional tone in your writing. Answer important questions, such as how long you’ve worked in the field and your educational background. 

The second paragraph is about you as a person. Do you do volunteer work? How long have you been a stand-up comic? Interject some other intriguing information about your career as an accountant as you talk about your favorite pastime or hobbies. You’ll notice there is a flow to this, and it makes for a fascinating read.
